Motion
WHEREAS: It is the duty of the Theta Alumni Association to promote the social and educational activities of the active members of the Theta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity,
WHEREAS: The Chi Phi Educational Trust accepts tax–deductible, employer-matching donations for the educational assistance the active brotherhood,
WHEREAS: The Chi Phi Education Trust looks for the guidance of the Theta Alumni Association to disburse monies earmarked for the Theta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity,
WHEREAS: Br. Andrew Colditz, initiated on December 10th, 2005, has entered Chapter Eternal on the morning of December 26th, 2005.
IT IS MOVED THAT…
A scholarship named the “Brother Andrew Spencer Colditz Memorial Scholarship” be established in the name of our dear and beloved Brother. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to an active Brother who fulfills the principles and guidelines set forth in the Appendix under the Br. Andrew Spencer Colditz Memorial Scholarship Outline.
Appendix
Br. Andrew Spencer Colditz Memorial Scholarship Outline
To be presented to a newly initiated brother who shows true commitment to the Chi Phi Fraternity.
1. Requirements
a. Proven love and commitment to the Chi Phi fraternity on National and Local levels.
b. Demonstrates the ideals of a Chi Phi Gentleman.
c. Active member in Good Standing with the Theta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity.
d. Initiated within twelve (12) months prior to award date.
e. Registered as a full-time student at an accredited university for the semester following nomination.
f. Minimum GPA of 2.5.
2. Process
a. The Executive Board of the active chapter will present a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 5 applicants to the Theta Alumni Association Scholarship Committee for consideration no later than the end of RPI Reunion Weekend held each October in Troy, New York.
b. The Committee will meet prior to the Fall alumni weekend to present their choice to the alumni association
c. The scholarship will be presented to the winner at the chapter’s fall formal (Scarlet & Blue Dinner).
3. Amount
a. The scholarship of $200 to $500 shall be awarded dependant on available funds.
b. The scholarship committee may divide the award amount in case of a tie.
4. Application
Submit the following in one typed page per nominate:
Application form including the following item:
i. Letter from the Executive Board of the Active Chapter to include:
1. Reasons for Recommendation,
2. Candidate standing with chapter,
3. Candidate status with institution, and
4. Any supporting documentation thereof.
ii. Recommendation from the New Member Educator to include
1. Reasons for Recommendation,
2. Activities and performance as a New Member, and
3. Any supporting documentation thereof.
iii. Personal statement from the Nominated Brother.
